The New Era of Data Preparation: Data Prep 3.0

With the increasing medical care of business processes, it is the necessity of enterprises to strengthen the potential of numerous users, so as to extract unjust insights from quality knowledge. Most firms read data preparation as a vital tool to enhance their ability to use knowledge in a data distributed manner for data discovery, data processing, and advanced analytics.

The goal of data preparation is to stay up with the demand of data for analytics to realize insight of dynamic market conditions and contour business processes. It supports business anlaysts as well as data scientists by preparing numerous forms of data for analytical objectives.

In the Summer ’20 release of Salesforce we are going to witness a next-generation data preparation tool. This tool has been released as beta version and is called Data Prep (Beta).

Data Prep — Reinvented

Data Prep (Beta) is a tool which brings the power of Recipes and Dataflow under one umbrella. This will help the users to perform the transformations more effectively by using a graphical view to see where the data comes from and how it goes to the target dataset.

Key Benefits of using Data Prep (Beta)

We can preview the result of your transformation after each step without running the flow each time.

We can also add some intelligence to the data as you’ll be able to observe the sentiment of the outcome. Einstein will be ready to predict missing values.

Getting Started with Data Prep (Beta)

Users can enable themselves to user Data Prep (Beta) by enabling the setting Use the new version of data prep (Beta) under Analytics setting in setup.

To create a Data Prep (Beta) flow, open Recipes tab under Dataflows and Recipes in Data Manager. Click on the dropdown arrow next to Create with Data Prep and select Create with Data Prep (Beta).

Select the input data by clicking Select Data Button:

After selecting the data when we click on the input we can visualize the data preview.

To add another transformation, click on the plus icon next to the input.

If we have more than one input sets then you can easily join them as we have options to join them as Lookup, Left Join, Right Join, Inner Join, and Outer Join and preview the data instantly.

This feature is available on Developer, Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions. You can get your free org using this link.

These are just a glimpse of this amazing data preparation tool. Salesforce is planning to replace Dataflow and Recipes with this tool by forcing some additional capabilities that are not part of this tool as of now. This will help both developers and businesses to dive deep into data and have a better outcome.
